What About Common Core?
In 2014 the State of Missouri Legislature passed House Bill 1490. Subsequently, work groups were formed to re-write standards, which replaced the Common Core Standards. The State Board of Education approved the new Missouri Learning Standards in 2016. Fort Zumwalt teachers write, implement and revise curriculum on a seven year cycle. Curriculum is based upon the Missouri Learning Standards. Subject area curriculum for each grade level is presented to the Board of Education for approval and then is implemented throughout the district.
